Brawls & food fights - lawmaking in Taiwan

Taiwan politician's meleeKindergarten playground politics, all grown up. Here’s what happens when poorly raised children grow up to become bratty adults with no self-control or anger-management skills.

I initially saw the May 08, 2007 article back in, well.. May, and was a bit surprised at the immature behavior exhibited in such a public forum. I’ve since done some more digging and found that this is not outrageous, as it ought to be - it’s merely par for the course here. I should have guessed as much, based on classroom, traffic and other unacceptable behavior I’ve observed and been subjected to. It’s just another case of undisciplined, selfish children hiding in adult bodies.

Grab a bag of chips or popcorn and prepare to be entertained and astounded by the antics of (in these articles, anyway) Asian lawmakers. This is the kind of stuff that movies are made of, where we then ridicule it as being far-fetched and unrealistic.. Only these incidents really took place - the BBC says they’re so!

Actually, your post is an excellent example of how naive foreigners are. Probably has something to do with the way they are raised, the naive children of parents who themselves are bumpkins. Let me clue you in on something so you can understand Asian politics a little better:

    Everything you see is staged.

    Including these brawls.

They have meaning and purpose. They happen for a reason.

You might consider substantially rewriting this, or perhaps just taking it down. It’s awfully ethnocentric as it now stands.

BTW, BBC’s reporting on China is notorious for its pro-China slant. Welcome to the real world, where nothing you see is real.

Hi Michael. Welcome to my website and thanks for reading and thanks for sharing your opinion (you know what they say about those..). :-) However, flaming the author and voicing erroneous and insulting familial character traits in your first (last?) post isn’t a horribly smart move.
You are welcome to post here again if you wish, but keep it civil. Thanks!
